Let Freedom Ring
In whose symbolic shadow we stand?
This momentous decree
a great beacon
of light, hope
to end the long night
Face the tragic fact,
this is, manacles of segregation
A lonely island in the midst of
appalling condition
Rights of life, magnificent words.
Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness!
Come to this hallowed spot,
honoring this sacred obligation,
to rise from the dark valley,
to the sunlit path
Open the doors of opportunity,
lift our nation from the quicksand
to the solid rock of brotherhood.
The sweltering summer,
invigorating autumn is not ahead,
but a beginning.
A rude awakening,
neither rest, nor tranquility.
Until the bright day,
justice emerges.
